Composition

The preparation contains the active ingredient silodosin, as well as mannitol, pregelatinized starch, magnesium stearate, sodium lauryl sulfate as auxiliary substances.
The gelatin capsule consists of gelatin, iron oxide of yellow oxide, titanium dioxide.

Form of issue

The Urorec is available in hard gelatin capsules that have a yellow color. Inside the capsules there is a fine crystalline or amorphous powder, it can be white or light yellow.
Capsules are packed in blisters for 5 or 10 pieces, in the package can be from 1 to 20 blisters. Capsules containing 4 or 8 mg of active substance are available.

pharmachologic effect

The Urorec agent is used by male patients suffering from urinary disorders due to the development of benign prostatic hyperplasia.
Under the influence of the active substance, which is part of the drug, the severity of irritation and obstruction, which are manifested in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia, decreases. The effect of the drug is associated with a decrease in the tone of the smooth muscles of the prostate, as well as the tone of the prostatic part of the urethra and the neck of the ureter. As a consequence, the outflow of urine improves.
The urorec does not affect human blood pressure due to the high selectivity of the active component.
The substance of silodosin is a competitive highly selective α1A-adrenoreceptor antagonist.

Pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics

After oral administration, the substance silodosin is well absorbed. The level of its bioavailability is 32%. The maximum concentration reduces food intake by 30%, while the period of reaching the highest concentration increases. Silodosin binds to plasma proteins by 96.6%.
Metabolized by glucuronation. The main metabolite, carbamoyl-glucuronide in plasma, reaches a concentration 4 times higher than silodosin itself. About a third of the silodosin is excreted from the body with urine, about 55% through the intestine.
The half-life of silodosin and carbamoyl-glucuronide is 11 and 18 hours, respectively. There is no significant dependence of pharmacokinetics on the patient's age.

Interaction

Urorec should not be combined with other alpha-adrenoblockers, since it is possible to show potentiation of the action.
With the simultaneous use of inhibitors of the isoenzyme CYP3A4 in plasma, the concentration of silodosin increases. Therefore, such a combination should not be practiced.
