Ketonal is a drug from a group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs with pronounced analgesic, decongestant and local antipyretic effect.

Form of issue and composition

Ketonal is available in several dosage forms. Cream Ketonal 5% is a homogeneous thick white mass without foreign impurities and a specific odor. The drug is intended for external use only and is available in aluminum tubes of 30 or 50 g in a cardboard box. The box contains detailed instructions.
The main active ingredient of the cream is Ketoprofen, in 1 g of the drug contains 50 mg of active substance. Also, the composition of the medicine includes auxiliary substances: purified water, magnesium sulfate, white petrolatum, propylene glycol.

Pharmacological properties

Cream Ketonal when applied to the skin surface has a pronounced local anesthetic, warming, anti-edematous and anti-inflammatory effect. Under the influence of the active substance of the drug, the release of enzymes that take an active part in the development of the inflammatory process is blocked.
After applying the agent to the affected area of ​​the skin, the active substance is absorbed to a small extent in the common bloodstream. Even with prolonged use of the cream, Ketoprofen does not adversely affect the condition of the cartilage in the joint.

Indications for use

Cream Ketonal is highly effective when the patient has the following conditions:
    Bechterew's disease;
    Inflammation of the periarticular bag or joint;
    Contusions, sprains, dislocations;
    Muscle pain of various origins;
    Osteochondrosis with pronounced radicular syndrome;
    Psoriatic arthritis;

Contraindications

Dosing and Administration

Interaction of the drug with other drugs

Since the degree of absorption of the active substance cream Ketonal sufficiently low, the existence of any drug interactions with other drugs from the group of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory is possible only after prolonged and repeated use.
The cream is not recommended to be used concomitantly with other topical agents, which include Ketoprofen or other drugs from the NSAID group.
